Someone once asked me... whether I waited for inspiration. My answer was: "Every day!"
Interpretation
Inspiration can be a daily pursuit rather than a sporadic occurrence.
This quote by Aaron Copland emphasizes the importance of actively seeking inspiration instead of passively waiting for it to strike. It suggests that creativity and motivation are cultivated through daily effort and attention, encouraging individuals to make the pursuit of inspiration a regular part of their lives.
In practice
During a lecture on creativity, I would reference this quote to encourage students to seek inspiration actively.
So long as the human spirit thrives on this planet, music in some living form will accompany and sustain it and give it expressive meaning.

To stop the flow of music would be like the stopping of time itself, incredible and inconceivable.

So here is why I write what I do: We all have futures. We all have pasts. We all have stories. And we all, every single one of us, no matter who we are and no matter whatβs been taken from us or what poison weβve internalized or how hard weβve had to work to expel it β β we all get to dream.
Everybody knows by now that there's a gazillion books on me either out or coming out in the near future. So I'm encouraging anybody who's ever met me, heard me or even seen me, to get in on the action and scribble their own book. You never know, somebody might have a great book in them.
You can be as earnest and ridiculous as you need to be, if you don't attempt it in isolation. The ridiculously earnest are known to travel in groups. And they are known to change the world.
The element of discovery is very important. I don't repeat myself well. I want and need that stimulus of walking forward from one new world to another.
A man who aspires to rise above the mediocre, to be something more than the ordinary, surely deserves admiration, even if he fails and loses a fortune on account of his ambitions (...) if one has failed only where others have not had the courage or will to try, there is consolation - indeed, deep satisfaction - to be gained from his observation when looking back over one's life. #Page no.134
I know it may seem small and insignificant, but it's not about what it is, it's about what it can become. That's not a seed, any more than you're just a boy.
