I am a Christian, not because someone explained the nuts and bolts of Christianity, but because there were people willing to be nuts and bolts.

So go out and live real good and I promise you'll get beat up real bad. But, in a little while after you're dead, you'll be rotted away anyway. It's not gonna matter if you have a few scars. It will matter if you didn't live.
Interpretation
Embrace life fully, even if it leads to hardships, because in the end, what matters is having lived fully.
This quote by Rich Mullins speaks to the importance of living authentically and passionately, despite the inevitable challenges and scars that life may bring. It suggests that being alive and experiencing life's ups and downs holds more significance than avoiding pain or seeking comfort, as eventually, all physical concerns will fade away after death. The essence of the message is that a life well-lived is richer than one spent in fear or avoidance.

Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little wife and your perfect little children in your beautiful little house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken.
I think I would rather live on the verge of falling and let my security be in the all-sufficiency of the grace of God than to live in some pietistic illusion of moral excellence. Not that I don't want to be morally excellent but my faith isn't in the idea that I'm more moral than anybody else. My faith is in the idea that God and His love are greater than whatever sins any of us commit.
Forged in the fires of human passion, choking on the fumes of human rage, with these out hells and our heavens, so few inches apart, we must be awfully small, and not as strong as we think we are.
Life is flying by. You don't have time to waste another minute being negative, offended or bitter. If someone did you wrong, get over it and move forward.
We'll fill our lives with what we cultivate the most. Plant grace by the acre.
Cancer has given me a dose of humility. I'm much more empathetic. It's a club I would rather not have joined, but it is a club.
Ten to 15 of my childhood friends from Minsk died of cancer. Chernobyl kills.
Don't just live the length of your life - live the width of it as well.
Our being is subject to all the chances of life. There are so many things we are capable of, that we could be or do. The potentialities are so great that we never, any of us, are more than one-fourth fulfilled.
