Albert Schweitzer suggests that the most profound expression of one's spiritual beliefs is found in ethical behavior. This implies that true spirituality is not just about personal transcendence or rituals, but is fundamentally about how we treat others and the moral choices we make in our lives.

In a speech about community service, one might quote this to emphasize the importance of ethics.
I do not want to frighten you by telling you about the temptations life will bring. Anyone who is healthy in spirit will overcome them. But there is something I want you to realize. It does not matter so much what you do. What matters is whether your soul is harmed by what you do. If your soul is harmed, something irreparable happens, the extent of which you won't realize until it will be too late.

A performer may be taken in by his own act, convinced at the moment that the impression of reality which he fosters is the one and only reality.
