The goal of my work is to make visible the inevitable racist assumptions held, and patterns displayed, by white people conditioned from living in a white supremacist culture.
Robin DiangeloRead
Until white people understand that racism is embedded in everything, including our consciousness and socialisation, then we cannot go forward.
Interpretation
Racism is a pervasive issue that requires deep understanding and awareness for meaningful progress.
Robin DiAngelo's quote emphasizes that racism is not just an external problem but is ingrained within societal structures and individual perspectives. For true progress to occur, it is crucial for those in dominant racial groups to recognize and confront the systemic nature of racism, as well as their own unconscious biases.

Whites often respond defensively when linked to other whites as a group or 'accused' of collectively benefiting from racism, because as individuals, each white person is 'different' from any other white person and expects to be seen as such.
One of the most important misunderstandings for white people to get over to move forward is this idea that racism is a good-bad proposition - that if we're good we can't be part of it, that being uncomfortable means you're a terrible person. This is what I have learned: Any white person living in the United States will develop opinions about race simply by swimming in the water of our culture. But mainstream sources - schools, textbooks, media - don't provide us with the multiple perspectives we need.
White consciousness is deeply anti-black, and that's for progressives and conservatives.

One day, I know the struggle will change. There's got to be a change - not only for Mississippi, not only for the people in the United States, but people all over the world.
Comrades, there is no true social revolution without the liberation of women. May my eyes never see and my feet never take me to a society where half the people are held in silence. I hear the roar of womenβs silence. I sense the rumble of their storm and feel the fury of their revolt.
As a newcomer to America who learned to 'speak American' by watching movies, I firmly believe that to change the politics of immigration and citizenship, we must change culture - the way we portray undocumented people like me and our role in society.
Denying women the right to drive has imposed huge costs on Saudi citizens.
